Do you need a website in 2026?
Short answer: almost always yes — but it does not have to be big.
What a website gives you that social profiles do not
- Ownership. Platforms change their rules and reach overnight. Your domain stays yours.
- Search visibility. People looking for “plumber near me” or “wedding photographer” find websites, not Instagram grids.
- Trust. A clear page with real contact details and prices answers the questions customers have before they call.
- Measurement. You can see what visitors read, where they leave and what makes them contact you.
What you actually need
For most small businesses, five pages are enough: home, services, about, contact, and one page per important service. Add a blog only when you have something useful to say regularly.
What to avoid
Do not start with ten features. Start with a fast site that explains what you do, who it is for, how much it roughly costs and how to reach you. You can grow from there.
If you are unsure, a short call is usually enough to decide what is worth building first.
